Panel angle studies in:

1-Point Perspective
High horizon

Hey guys! This is the continuation of my panel studies, this time I tried to come up with storytelling ideas with the horizon line placed in the upper part of the panel. Sorry for how sketchy it is, lately I have been drawing quite zoomed out and when I zoomed in the lines looked terrible haha, I'm still trying to understand the digital drawing process. But I do like how the panels came out in the end! This time I also decided to do a rough shading over the characters as well to add a little bit more of drama to the scenes.

I had a bit of a hard time in the last panel (with the 3 characters in a corridor) because I tried to draw over an old drawing, and I realized I'm not good at drawing characters first and backgrounds after. xD So if you feel your characters are always floating or you can't come up with a background idea because your character's pose is already set, try inverting the process before rushing the conclusion you can't draw this or that. Sometimes our minds need a certain order to do things in order to see things clearly.

To be honest, there is really no limit on what kind of mood you can achieve with any angle, but you need to have in mind that each angle will give a different kind of focus to the elements in the scene and can give you more space or less space to show what you need to show to the reader. You can draw the closeup of a foot with a Low, Mid or High horizon, but each of them will proportionate a different point of view on it, even though all of them would have the foot as the focus element. So you need to see how this angle will fit in the moment of your story. Is your character looking at someone else's foot? Probably a point of view from above. Your character is being followed by someone, but you dont want your reader to find out who is it? Probably a point of view from behind. Each angle will be able to focus on this same element in a different way and is up to you to decide if this or that way is the one that best show what your reader needs to see and how you want them to see.

If you try to follow a "fixed rule" for each angle, it'll probably just hinge your creativity a lot and harm your story more than actually help it. If you are too confused on what angle best show a certain scene of your story, always draw THUMBNAILS before taking your final decision. Try drawing for example Low, Mid and High horizon thumbnails to compare them and see which one you think that best focus on what you want to focus.
